Muhammad Ilyas

Muhammad Ilyas joined Office of the Ombudsman Punjab in September, 2016 as an Advisor. Earlier, he was Member of Punjab Public Service Commission for three years. He retired in 2012 as Secretary (Regulation) Services & General Administration Department, Government of the Punjab. He did Master’s in Statistics from University of the Punjab and Master’s in Public Management from Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA. Muhammad Ilyas participated in special training programs at Lee Kaun Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, Cooperative College of Malaysia, Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand and Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, U.K and also attended senior management training programs in Pakistan. As part of S&GAD, Muhammad Ilyas was actively involved in policy formulation, framing of laws, rules and compilation of compendium of laws, rules & instructions. During his 35 years career in the civil service, he held a variety of administrative, financial and human resource management assignments. He made valuable contributions to the field of higher education during his posting at Governor’s Secretariat from 1999 to 2006. The Chief Minister of Punjab awarded a special commendation certificate to him in 2011 in recognition of his outstanding performance as a civil servant.
